http://www.geopark.hk

http://pda.atnext.com/isilo/NextMagazine/910/10030417.cfm?src=1

我有一雙完整的手;

39A Euro Thai; for reservation: 25813303)
Riesling,

day by day

back from holiday last night,
back to work today,
from paradise to hell…..

img_0034.jpg

in between of my work, I got to write something about my trip.

I had a 6-day holiday, flew from Hong Kong to Singapore, stayed one night there, then headed to Mersing by a direct bus, with a ferry ride to Tioman Island, stayed there for three days, then returned to Mersing for one night, then back to Singpoare for Hong Kong fly.

1st day: Singapore

Stayed in Ali’s Nest Guesthouse, situated at Little India, a family-run guesthouse with very basic facility, the room we had is like those in Cheung Chau, shared shower and toilet (cold shower only). It costed us 30US/150HKD (I could say it is the cheapest guesthouse in Singapore). The owner is called Ali, Singaporean Chinese, they offer free breakfast (toast with butter & jam, coffee & tea).
Website: Ali’s Nest

Dine&drink: we didn’t party, surprisingly, we had some food in Little India, then we took a cab to Mohamad Sultan Road, where we could find some decent bars. Stayed awake until 1am, back to guesthouse, ready for the next day long travel.

2nd day: Singapore -> Mersing -> Tioman

Took bus at Lavander Bus Terminal, bus leaves at 9am or 10am, it costs 26SG/140HKD per person (fxxking $). We know there is another alternative, which is going to Queen’s Street, JB bus terminal, take a bus to the Singpoare/Malaysia border, Johor Bahru, then from there we take a bus to Mersing, however we wanted less hassle, we just jumped on that $ bus. In fact I dun think the time would be much different, but definitely the cost can be half and buses are more frequent..anyway..

3 hours bus ride (1 hour to Johor Bahru, got off, went through custom; 2 hours from Johor Bahru to Mersing)

The bus somehow didnt go to the Jetty port in Mersing, the driver asked us get off in front of a travel agency, where we can buy ferry tickets to Mersing..I suspect actually the bus indeed went through the jetty, but somehow they wanted us to get off so that the travel agent would take us as a potential customer..we bought ferry ticket (Seagull Company), RM35/75HKD per person.

2 hours ferry ride to Tekek, or other beaches depends on our request. We stopped at ABC beach, in where our chalet is.

ABC beach, we ranked it 5/10, the beach is not amazing, mild waves make the water not very clear. We stayed at Narzi’s place, good room, with air-con, hot shower and toilet, the rate is RM60 per night. They have a good restaurant though, we had BBQ prawn there.

3rd day: Snorkeling trip in Coral Island -> Juara beach

We hired a speed boat for a half day (it was supposed to be a full-day..however something happened to make it only half day .V.), we went Coral Island, where is the best beach I have ever been to. Turquoise water, as clear as swimming pool water, we snorkelled, reasonable amount of fish and coral, we saw a fish which is about 1.5m long, and a sea turtle..though we went too far and almost couldnt make oursleves survive.

After Coral Island, we traveled to Salang beach, nice beach with no waves as well, we snorkelled there, good fun, good for kids as the water is very shallow. We lazied on a hammock with ice-cream and fruit platter..what a holiday!

After returning back to ABC, we walked to Tekek, as we had chatered a 4 wheel drive to Juara beach. We got to bargain with the driver, finally we made it RM40 per person (we had 4 people in a car). About 45-min ride, we arrived at our real paradise, Juara beach. we walked around to look for our booked chalet, as we have booked Mizani’s and Rainbow. Somehow Mizani’s was not available, we got a chalet in Rainbow. Nice house with beach view, cold shower and toilet, a huge king size bed with fan. RM50 per night.

Highly recommended: Sunrise Cafe for dinner, they serve BBQ fish, squid, chicken and beef. (although they provide a very low-quality red wine). The owner’s daughter is a mixed Malaysian-Dutch. SHE IS VERY HOT!! My boyfriend was looking at her all the time .V. (So did I, unfortunately).

4th day: sporty day in Juara

We walked along the beach, we rented a kayak, we snorkelled, we swam…perfect sporty day there.

Highly recommended: do a kayak trip into the river stream in the north of the beach, if we were lucky we could see monkeys and other animals. I saw a stingray in the river!

5th day: Juara -> Mersing

Nothing much I could describe more about the beach, except remote, quiet, nice water, nice beach, paradise, perfect for couples…..:)

We hired a car again back to Tekek, this time it only costed us RM120 for a car. From Tekek we took a ferry back to Mersing.

We somehow ended up staying in Mersing for one night to catch the next day early bus back to Johor Bahru. We met a young French guy on the way of this trip and he recommends us to go to his uncle’s bangalow in Mersing. We stayed there, very cozy, we had a huge house and he only charged us RM50 per night. It is situated at the country side of Mersing, facing the sea. The only thing we hate is mosquitos…..we were awake several times cos of the bites.

Farm guesthouse, Mersing

6th day: Mersing -> Singapore -> Hong Kong

8am express bus from Mersing Bus terminal to Johor Bahru. DON TRUST THE AGENT IN MERSING JETTY. They told us there is no bus at 8am and in fact there is!
express bus from Mersing to JB (RM10/22HKD), JB to check point (RM2/5HKD), check point to Singapore Downtown (RM5/11HKD). IT is much cheaper then the direct bus from Singapore to Mersing.

From Johor Bahru there are plenty buses back to Singapore, we had sufficent time, even manged to have a pleasant lunch in Riverside of Singapore before we got on the place.

c’est la vie。
